SUPPORT AND RESOURCES FOR PARENTS IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

The pandemic has had a profound impact on daily life across the world. We recognize the virus has brought about anxiety, unpredictability, and significant negative emotionality for many, children and adults. We encourage all to embrace  self-care and enhanced quality of life regardless of present day circumstances.

managing covid

In addition to keeping safe utilizing all of the CDC's guidance for  your physical and environmental health, we encourage the following tools, resources, and guidance to manage COVID-related distress and anxiety.  They are categorized in three specific areas:

1.) Decreasing Stress in the Home Environment

2.)  Managing Challenges of Virtual/On-line Learning at Home

3.)  Parent and Child-Self Care

Meditation/Relaxation and Spiritual Resilience help you remain grounded and in control of your breathing and physical distress.  Sleep, a nutritional diet, regular (and fun) exercise keeps your heart, mind, and immune system strong.  Our team likes to call this approach: "Comprehensive Fitness."

Remember These KEY Points:

  • Listen to your children, speak kindly and reassure them (do the same for yourself)

  • Make opportunities for your children to play and relax (do the same for yourself)

  • Obtain factual information from reliable sources and communicate updates to your family in age-appropriate words.

Self-Care is a vital factor for Caretakers and Children

Its a proven scientific fact that caretakers, educators, healthcare providers, and family members who routinely utilize various self-care strategies (i.e., deep breathing, resting/relaxing, meditating, journaling, walking/exercise, etc.) manage stress more effectively and overall sustain a sense of well-being.

We WILL get through this!

Reflection and gratitude for every other difficult time you've overcome is vital for surviving the discomfort and unease we face today.  A positive, problem-solver mindset generates creative, thoughtful ways to survive and thrive in challenging times. Spirituality can also be a phenomenal resource for hope & strength.
